Here is a simple template you can download and use to help doll up your personas. It's a Word Doc - hopefully that makes using it a bit easier. Of course, a pretty layout isn't the key to a good persona - its the content. I recommend reading 10 Step summary of how to create personas to get some good insight into the research.
Personas are key to the design process. It's been proven that if an organization can be bothered to invest a little effort to learn about your user and they will be highly rewarded.
